About Me

Hi I’m Beth, a dedicated and passionate maths teacher and tutor. My hope is to spread my knowledge and enthusiasm for Mathematics; making it relatable, engaging, and directly relevant to your exam. If you want to get in touch please email me at: info@bbmaths.co.uk.

Teaching Journey

I began tutoring maths while studying A‑Level Mathematics in 2017 and continued throughout my degree in Mathematics with Education and QTS. I qualified as a secondary school Mathematics Teacher in 2021 and now teach full time. So my knowledge of the subject and GCSE content is kept up to date along with maintaining an Enhanced DBS.

Exam Boards & Experience

I’ve taught and tutored to the AQA and Edexcel specification, whilst recently having supported students taking Eduqas and OCR GCSE exams. I’m confident adapting to any board specification.

Current Focus & Further Maths

I currently teach KS3 and GCSE Mathematics. However, I studied Further Mathematics at GCSE and A‑Level and am in the process of refreshing this knowledge to soon begin to teach and tutor.

Typical Lesson Structure

Here at BBMaths we cater to each individual student, but know the importance of routine and consistency.

Lesson Structure

As a general rule of thumb, sessions follow a consistent approach of (timings based on 1 hour session):

  • 10–15 mins: Check‑in & retrieval / skill consolidation.
  • 45–50 mins: Specific topic focus: recap, guided examples, scaffolded practice.

We always use exam-style and past exam questions for KS4/GCSE students.

Personalisation

All sessions are personalised to the individual student and designed for their specific needs. Regular conversations are had with the students of what they want to do with their sessions. Whether it is to consolidate lessons done at school, strengthen their problem solving skills or practice high frequency exam topics. The choice is yours and can change as often as you like.
